Kishan Mehrotra has received his early graduate education, leading up to master degree in statistics from Lucknow University, India. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Statistics from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He joined Syracuse University in 1970 and presently he is Chair & Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. During the course of past forty years he has spent some years away as a visiting professor at Brooks Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas, Indian Statistical Institute, New Delhi, University of Wisconsin, Madison; and CMU, Pittsburgh. From 1998 to June 2009 he served as the Director of the Computer and Information Science and earlier from 1989 to 1991 he served as the Director of Applied Statistics Program at Syracuse University. Kishan Mehrotra has written more than 190 papers and journal articles in several areas including non-parametric methods, theory of statistics, reliability theory, data mining, artificial intelligence, classification methods, wireless networks and sensor fusion, bioinformatics, etc. He has co-authored a book on neural networks. Recently, he has taken an interest in developing algorithms to achieve community structures in a Social Network. His current research interests include Data Mining, Bioinformatics, and Social Networks.
