Biography

Dr. Jingshan Huang is an Associate Professor (with tenure) of Computer Science in the School of Computing (SoC) at the University of South Alabama (USA). Dr. Huang received his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of South Carolina in 2007. Prior to his current position, Dr. Huang was an Assistant Professor at Benedict College and a Research Specialist at the Medical University of South Carolina, respectively.Dr. Huang has published over 50 refereed papers including those in mainstream journals such as PLOS ONE, Pharmaceutical Research, and BMC Genomics, as well as leading bioinformatics conferences such as BIBM and BCB. Dr. Huang established and has been supervising the South Biomedical Informatics (SBI) Research Group housed in the USA SoC. He has also participated in a wide variety of professional service, including: NSF panelists, Journal Editorial/Review Board members, Conference Steering Committee members, Conference and Workshop Co-Chairs, Book Editorial Advisory Board members, and invited journal/book editors, as well as serving as Program Committee members for many top international conferences. Dr. Huang's research has been supported by the NIH, NSF, and DOE.

Data Semantics and Web Data; Artificial Intelligence and Big Data; and Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, with a unifying theme of the semantics and analysis of data and information, as well as their innovative applications on human genomics and transcriptomics
